These are views of Kendall Hall. All Kendall Hall
studios come equipped with a stove, sink and refrigerator in their kitchenettes.
Residence representatives. Your residence hall has a student representative who will serve as your liaison to Buildings and Grounds, the Dean of Students Office, etc. It is appropriate for you to bring questions and concerns to him/her, and he/she will share information with you at residence hall meetings and in printed materials.
Study Lounge. In the basement between Kendall and Fuller is a newly renovated study/lounge space for use on a first come first served basis by residents of the two buildings.
Access. Guests can use the buzzer next to the front door, which rings into your apartment. New residents must submit a work order to connect their buzzer to their apartment after their phone has been installed by Bell Atlantic. List your name beside the appropriate buzzer and test it to be sure it works.
Storage. Your residence hall has limited storage space in the basement. Your room key will give you access to the storage room. This space is not to be used for furniture or appliances, but can store rarely used items such as seasonal clothing. Clearly label all items you place in storage and keep them together in your area. When you move from the residence hall, be sure to take all your stored items with you.
Washers & dryers. All residence halls have coin-operated washers and dryers in the basement. There is also an ironing board and clothesline for resident use in the laundry room.
Fire extinguishers. Located under the kitchen sink. Smoke alarms are not provided by the school.
Fire doors. Located at the end of each hallway, these doors should be left closed, never propped open.
Snow salt. There is a bucket of “salt” at each entryway that residents may apply as needed.
Garbage disposal. Covered switch is located under sink. To operate, switch must be on. Place sink stopper in drain such that the magnetic disk is pointed toward the operator. Water should be on when using the disposal.
Heat. Once heat is on campus-wide, you can regulate the heat in each room by the knobs beneath the heater grills.
Telephones. Every apartment has a phone jack for a private phone. Contact Verizon (1-800-870-9999) as soon as possible for telephone service installation. Inquire at the Housing Office to find out the name of the previous resident, as such information will assist the phone company. You will need the specific building address (this is not a mailing address): 225 Herrick Road. You may also need to contact Buildings and Grounds in order for the serviceperson to gain access to all necessary cables.
Guest rooms. There are three hotel-style guest rooms in Kendall Hall available for rental by reservation. Please contact the Housing office for more details.
Full-time residents in these rooms must subscribe to any one of the various board plan options.
No refunds can be made for absences from the campus during periods in the school year when classes are not in session.
Apartments in Kendall, Fuller and Herrick House are unfurnished, except for stoves and refrigerators. Students may request copies of the Andover Newton Housing Policy from the Student Housing Office or print one online at: http://www.ants.edu/pdf/housingpolicies.pdf
