Youth Minister of the Week, Star Island, NH

Star Island, an island and retreat center off the coast of New Hampshire renowned for its natural beauty, history, and faithful community of attendees, seeks a Youth Minister to work with UCC youth conference next summer during the week of Aug.t 2-9, 2014.

The Youth Minister will design and implement the youth program for Star Gathering UCC2 Youth. In partnership with other program leaders, the Youth Minister creates a program for youth that focuses on relationship-building, renewal, and spiritual growth for 15-20 vacationing high school students. On the island, she or he leads worship, works with a team to implement the program, and is on call for pastoral care and youth issues that emerge. The Youth Minister should expect on-call responsibilities during the evening and night-time hours. The Youth Minister either selects or designs the theme-based curriculum with assistance (the purpose of the youth conferences is not primarily didactic but rather relationship- and faith-building).

The successful candidate should be:

  • Ordained in the United Church of Christ or a related tradition
  • Experienced in youth work, including mission trips and/or other in-loco-parentis programs
  • Able to commit to the entire week
  • Creatively inspired to design or adapt a relationship-building, renewing, and spiritual-growth promoting curriculum for youth
  • Prepared to work with a team of leaders to implement a program
  • Prepared to collaborate with other leaders from the concurrent adult program and island staff to carry forward Star Island traditions

Star Island UCC Youth Committee will receive applications immediately, and the search will continue until the appropriate candidate is identified.

Applications should include a letter of interest, and resume, and can be sent electronically care of:
